HOW TNB-FITNESS CAME TO BE AND OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE NEW BEGINNINGS CENTER.
Background
Tash Weddle (CEO and founder of TNB-Fitness) started her journey as a high school basketball player in Indiana. After accomplishing her dream of becoming an Indiana All-Star, she went on to play at the collegiate level at both NC State University and The University of Evansville, but her career was one plagued by recurring knee injuries. Determined to come back from five surgeries during her playing career, Tash found her passion in the weight room, as well as her chosen profession in life. After graduating from The University of Evansville with a degree in exercise science, she went on to The University of Tennessee and spent two years working as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Lady Vol's. During her tenure at U.T., Tash gained valuable experience working with Pat Summitt's back-to-back national championship women's basketball teams of 1997 and 1998. From there it was Kent State University, Purdue University, and most recently Vanderbilt University serving as director of strength and conditioning for women's basketball, where she played a part in winning two SEC championships tournaments and eight NCAA tournament appearances.
The Change, The Dedication, The Inclusiveness
After 17 years as a collegiate strength and conditioning coach, Tash realized that all women can and should feel the empowering effects of gaining physical strength. Helping women had always been a passion but now the passion would be shared with women of all walks of life, hence the creation of a social enterprise consisting of TNB-Fitness and The New Beginnings Center. At TNB-Fitness, there is no judgement on age or physical limitation. Everyone from the athlete to the novice or senior citizen is welcome and can benefit from the training systems and highly experienced coaching staff that Tash has put in place at TNB-Fitness.
The New Beginnings Center provides women who are financially disadvantaged with the same opportunities, regardless of their background or ability to pay. Since its inception in 2011, The New Beginnings Center’s whole-person approach has allowed more than 4,500 women to realize their physical and mental strength, while losing weight and making permanent lifestyle changes.
The New Beginnings Center currently serves over 500 women a year and will continue to grow this number with the help of TNB-Fitness clients. Twenty percent (20%) of the membership fee at TNB-Fitness goes to help women in The New Beginnings Center program. As our clients grow strong, it opens the doors for those not as fortunate so that they have the opportunity to become strong too.
PHILOSOPHY
Strengthening Women
Started by a woman, for women, TNB-Fitness provides women in Nashville with a fitness experience that is entirely different from the ordinary gym. Don’t expect a sea of treadmills hooked up to televisions, mini pink dumbbells, or elliptical machines when you arrive. At TNB-Fitness, our clients participate in a unique program that combines strength training, metabolic conditioning, and corrective exercise to achieve extraordinary results.
At TNB-Fitness, our mission is to empower and strengthen women through physical fitness. We strive not to be intimidating, because we know that some gyms are. We want you to excel at learning our fitness principles while becoming your very best version of you and we take our clients' goals very seriously. Whether you are coming off of an injury, scared to start a training program, need to improve mobility, strength, increase endurance, transform glutes and quads into the remarkable muscles they were always meant to be—or all of this and more—TNB-Fitness will provide expert training to help you reach your goals. Check out what our current clients have to say about hitting their goals with us below.
Assessments and Progressive Training Philosophy
The women's only environment at TNB-Fitness is inclusive and supportive of all fitness levels. One of the most important aspects of training at TNB-Fitness is our attention to detail and ensuring that we take the time to provide a quality service that is expertly tailored to each client’s needs. Every potential client begins the program with a thorough assessment of their current state of fitness and capabilities. This assessment process is based on injury prevention and post injury rehabilitation and helps us meet you exactly where you are when you arrive at our door.
Our coaches are indeed the best in the industry with a wealth of experience and education behind them. We pride ourselves on the quality of coaching and guidance that you will receive by being part of TNB-Fitness. In addition to our advanced assessments, we use Precision Nutrition strategies to support our clients. Nutrition coaching is included in all of our personalized training membership packages. You will learn the habits we follow and how to tailor your eating to your lifestyle and activity level.
Our training philosophy
At TNB-Fitness, we approach your health and fitness intelligently. No matter what your goals are when you walk through the door, proper movement patterns and injury prevention are top on our priority list. From the start, we assess and determine your overall movement quality and where your individual movement dysfunctions are. The FMS screen is an entry point. The information we receive from this screen determines where we need to go and how to go about it. We believe in taking our time after your assessment in building the foundation of strength and movement quality you will need to successfully reach your goals injury free. Working hard is great, but working hard and smart is more important for lasting change and quality of movement.
You will not be thrown a ‘workout of the day’ at TNB-Fitness. Your individualized workout program is structured to fit your needs and will consist of the proper exercise selection, volume, intensity, and variation to ensure that you are always making progress. This is all supported by our stellar coaching staff that you can read more about below. We have some of the very best coaches in Nashville, which makes our gym a destination facility for women who are serious about their fitness.
Our nutrition philosophy is habit and lifestyle based. We do not believe in diets, quick fixes, or trying out the latest fads and cool supplements. Some women need more education on what and how to eat, while others just need some hand holding and accountability. We meet you where you are and set realistic behavior goals with you so that change is lasting and long-term.
